The answers you provided tell me that you spend most of your time in your regulated autonomic nervous system state, otherwise known as the Ventral Vagal Complex or Social Engagement System. When you spend most of your time here, your health is optimised, you are able to be present with your experience and you are connected to yourself and others. Most of the time, your energy levels match the situation you are in, your body is grounded and functioning well, your breath is deep and calm, your thoughts are clear, and you’re able to be with and process your emotions. You generally sleep well, you enjoy looking after yourself and you’re able to move in the direction of your dreams and goals.
Having your homebase in regulation doesn’t mean that you never become dysregulated, it just means that after challenging or stressful situations, your nervous system, and therefore your body and mind, are able to return to regulation and once again optimise your health and wellbeing. This is the place that we want to come back to regularly. And seeing as you do this already, now it’s really important that you continue strengthening this homebase so that you can continue to navigate the ups and downs of life with more ease.
